Paraiso Bautista for leading the crew! Thank you to the selfless RCBSC Past Presidents, Rotarians, RCBSC Sagip Kapatid, UPAA Baguio-Northern Luzon Chapter and to the other sponsors who shared their blessings and time! (PSD Café )

WHYTHE YOUTH JOIN THE ROTARY?

Franz Erick Calanio (1st Year BA Social Sciences, Major in Anthropology & Minor in Political Sciences, UP Baguio) awarded as RCBSC Outstanding Interactor during the 22nd Charter Anniversary Ceremonies

“I started to be involved in Rotary in 9th grade as the Vice President of our Interact Club. As I immersed in Rotary service projects, my life’s perspective changed. I fell in love with the idea of putting “Service Above Self”, and this is why I have strived to continue to connect to Rotary, and to volunteer. I see projects as something relaxing and not tiresome. It is the knowledge of having helped, seeing service unfold before your very eyes, indeed a restful and peaceful sight!

We were involved in projects like fundraising, clean-ups, building alliances with other Rotary organizations, and participating in leadership trainings among others. One of my favorite projects was when we went to a Special Education Center and distributed hygiene kits to students with special needs. We taught them proper handwashing and we even had the chance to play with them. Other activities were preparing breakfast for our teachers on their special day; and immersion with Burnham Park vendors. In this time of the pandemic, I organize programs together with other student-leaders to aid the needy like starting a community pantry at the Igorot Park, and advocating for other causes.”

Jan Zeddrieck Dacawi (1st Year School of Medicine, Pines City Colleges) recognized as Charter President of the Rotaract Club of PCC-SOM during the 22nd Charter Anniversary Ceremonies

“I got introduced to the Rotary through my dad, a member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital. I was inspired to join the Rotary because I saw how the Rotarians helped and impacted the community. It was giving back to those in need and at the same time, spreading hope and optimism. Back in my teens, I was part of the UB Science High School Interact Club where I got a first-hand experience on how Rotary brings people together and radiate positivity locally and globally.

Our Rotaract Club of Pines City Colleges – School of Medicine is relatively new. We have partnered with Still131_Ph and took part in the donation drive to typhoon Ulysses victims in 2020 as our recipients. The goods consisted of food supplies and hygiene kits. We also took part in the CHRISTmas Wishes 2020 Gift-giving to the CPSP Inc. spearheaded by the DOLE thru      BOD Patrick Rillorta and the RCBSC anns.

As a young professional, it is great to see where we are heading to and we are delighted to know that the small things we do, make other people’s day. Juggling Med School with extracurricular activities brings another kind of joy and this is the reason why we continue to help others. Our Rotaract Club is young and still growing, but with the proper guidance and support, we know that we have a lot more to offer.”

  1. Aw, this was a very nice post. In thought I would like to put in writing like this moreover – taking time and actual effort to make an excellent article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and not at all appear to get something done.

  2. Good day! I could have sworn I’ve been to this blog before but after reading through some of the post I realized it’s new to me. Anyways, I’m definitely happy I found it and I’ll be book-marking and checking back often!
