     The WOMEN’S LIVELIHOOD OF DIZON-MANZANILLO 91004 was established in 2000 and reorganized in 2010 through its founder Corazon Salupen. It was formed to help mothers augment their husband’s income and at the same time take care of their children at home. In RY 2015-2016, PP Josef Angelo Martires and ann Quittie was instrumental to sponsoring this organization into a Rotary Community Corps-RCC Women of Dizon-Manzanillo. Its organization date was April 26, 2016 and charter date was May 9, 2016. In this year, PP Martires gifted the livelihood with a television set and education books for their Day Care and an industrial oven for their “bakery”.

     Since then, the RCC Women of Dizon-Manzanillo has been included in the annual programs of the RCBSC: PP Rommel Alcid         (RY 2016-2017)  registered the women in various RCC seminars and it was during his term that the industrial oven was turned-over;    also the gifting of one unit of piping machine for their various sewing projects. Throughout the years, the livelihood helped 20 to 30 women and their families.

     Last April 24, the RCBSC and their service in partners – RCBSC Satellite Club-Venus, Rotaract Club of SLU-SAMCIS and Rotaract Club of PCC-SOM, gifted the livelihood with one unit of edging machine to cope up with the production of made to order curtains, blankets, beddings and cushion cases. This was made possible through the leadership of Pres. Tolitz Villanueva, and Satellite Chair Karla Anjeli Villanueva (RY 2020-2021). There was also a simultaneous grocery and hygiene packs donation by the RCBSC youth.

     As of the present, there are about 30 women and their families who are being helped by the livelihood. The livelihood was a       Matt Caparas RCC Awardee for two consecutive years after it was established. The group has also attended SME Management Trainings in the past years. The women are members of KALIPI (Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina)-Women’s Federation of Baguio City Inc.

“SYNERGY ROTARY FRIENDSHIP ALLIANCE-ASIA: ENVIRONMENT, ROTARY’S NEW FOCUS”

     The 8th Synergy Friendship Alliance-Rotary Asia that the RCBSC formally attended was the “Environment, Rotary’s New Focus” that was held last April 11 and hosted by the Rotary Club of Semarang Kunthi, Indonesia RID 3420. “RIPP Ian Risley (2017-2018) acknowledged the late start of the Rotary Foundation in officially recognizing the Environment as an important issue to address as part of our service to humanity. However, once the issue was identified, and relevant research was conducted, the       RI Trustees & Foundation Trustees unanimously voted to recognize the Environment as the SEVENTH Area of Focus, officially ratified this coming July.” © Synergy Alliance FB

     Congratulations to DGE Cindy Bachtiar and RC Semarang Kunthi of Indonesia for the successful hosting of the meeting. There was around 280 attendees.

     Attending were PDG Oyan, PP Jal, CP Gil, PP Rommel, BODs Delfin and Peter, and Rtn. Raio. Special mention to the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital for having assisted the host club in terms of technical support and virtual tips.

“RCBSC WATER SANITATION PROGRAM IN PARTNER WITH AWFATBA”

     Last April 21, the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital brethren headed by Project Chair Jun Bambalan and Co-chair Ar. Wendell Aplaten, contractors James Benos and Juniper Bosleng, and Satellite Club-Venus Chair Karla Anjeli Villanueva initiated the ground breaking ceremonies for the Abiang Women Farmers Apunan, Teytey, Betak Association (AWFATBA) Cooperative toilet block. Supporting the project was Councilor Franklin Smith. The project was urgent as the old toilets were washed out by the past typhoons.

     The cooperative’s services and its facilities will be serving around 1,500 constituents of Barangay Abiang, Atok, Benguet. The project fund is a district grant as incentive for the club’s TRF giving (RY 2020-2021).
